Chuck Colson reminded us in one of his letters of the inscription on a church in England — In the year 1653, when all things sacred in the kingdom
Were either profaned or demolished,
This church was built . . .
To do the best of things in the worst of times. Colson adds, “And it is to remember that, when conditions seem absolutely hopeless, Christians have great opportunities.”
