GIFTS FOR DESSERT
This is an illustration I heard somewhere a long time ago about how the spiritual gifts (of Romans 12) divided among the members of the Body of Christ can work together: A woman invited to dinner seven people who had the spiritual gifts of Romans 12. As she came out of the kitchen with the dessert, she tripped on a loose rug on the floor and the dessert was spilled all over. Immediately the person with the gift of serving ran to get a rag to wipe it up. The one with the gift of prophecy cried out, “Oh no, I could see it coming!” The guest with the gift of compassion ran up to the woman and comforted her, making sure she was all right. The one with the gift of administration took charge over the cleanup. The gift of exhortation person began to tell an encouraging and humorous story and they all began to laugh.
