DINOSAURS
Dinosaurs?/They’re all extinct, I think.
I want to cry,
I don’t know why
The bruisers died!
Perhaps because their six-ounce brains
Were way back in their bony tails.
They had no prehistoric fears
Of all their prehistoric peers
Because (I hate to say it here)
– Their prehistoric mental gears
Were in their prehistoric rears.
Could we, you think, become extinct
By thinking down the drain
And deciding our decisions
Sitting backwards on our brains? From Apples, Snakes and Bellyaches, by Calvin Miller, published by Word, 1990, pgs. 14 & 15
