A PASTOR’S DREAM CONGREGATION
Pastor, do you ever dream about the ideal congregation? Richard Moore of Grace Presbyterian Church of Vista, California sent in these thoughts based on a familiar old Arab proverb: Friendship — “Ah, the beauty of being at peace with another. Neither having to weigh thoughts or measure words. But spilling them out just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away.” That’s a pastor’s dream, to have a congregation that can possess that kind of grace and extend it to their pastor who is doing the best he can. The problem with this kind of dreaming is we forget that it is our job to create this kind of a heart in our people or at least with the grace of God help them move in that direction.
