THE POWER OF TELEVISION
In promoting an upcoming mid-week visit of an important speaker I presented her credentials and stressed the timeliness of her subject. Knowing that television was becoming a formidable barrier to a good attendance at Wednesday night gatherings I was tempted to list in the church bulletin the television programs that one could stay home and see if one chose not to come out that night. I lost heart at deadline time and chickened out. But I still like the “choose ye this day?” “this or that” challenge. We are the product of our choices, even our television choices. In this vein, a reader (name unfortunately misplaced) submitted a checklist of propositions by which one might determine whether she is watching too much television.
