STEWARDSHIP
Here’s a short but symbolic stewardship story I used recently. I got it from Funny Funny World. It seems that in Baltimore a William Stammer says the $1200.00 he kept in an old pair of shoes was safe from burglars, but not from himself. Without thinking, he threw the shoes in the trash and did not realize his error until after the sanitation workers carted them away. But, after a two-hour search through the contents of a city trash truck the retired schoolteacher located both shoes and recovered his money. I fleshed out the story a bit and then asked the question — “When you need to recover your treasure — where will you have to go? To the Garbage Dump? What are you investing in — future garbage? Or the Kingdom of God?
