Today reports a new study which says that couples who live together before marriage have a 50% greater chance of divorce than those who don’t. “Conventional wisdom suggests cohabitation serves as a filter to get rid of those who are not compatible, and as a test to see if couples will stay together,” a researcher said. “We find strong evidence that the marriages of those who have cohabited are less satisfied and more unstable” . . . than those who didn’t.
