After finally getting to South America through very strange circumstances Bruce Olson tells this story of one of his particularly hard treks through the jungle in Columbia: Because I was in a hurry to get medicine for the Motilones, I didn’t stop to hunt for food. And on the whole trip I didn’t happen to see anything I could eat. I just kept going. Nor did I get much water to drink. It was a mistake. I began to feel weak.
