MARITAL COMMUNICATION
After you’re married a few years you develop sharp communication skills. Sometimes it only takes a glance, or a brief clue to communicate with one another. But sometimes the communication shorthand doesn’t work exactly as expected. The wife was planning to have duck for dinner and so she hung a reminder to herself and pinned it with a magnet to the refrigerator — it read, cryptically: “Thaw Duck.” The next day her husband saw the note and added his comment to it, “Thaw one, too.” Ethel Fried, as quoted in the Courant of Hartford, CT.
