INSANE OR FOREIGN
In 1921, the police in Philadelphia picked up a twenty-four- year-old girl who was wandering around mumbling incoherently. They took her to a mental hospital where she remained for forty-eight years. Then in 1969, someone discovered she was speaking Ukranian. At the time she was picked up, the woman was in a dazed state because her husband and son had just died. The tragedy is that no one realized she was speaking a language.
