A GOLDEN SPEECH
There was a story about a creative and gutsy student who was giving her speech of demonstration, one of the three or four basic types of speeches that everyone in the beginning of speech course had to try out. Whether the story was historical or apocryphal, one may not determine. At any rate, as the story was told, she took her place at the lectern to give her speech, and she stood there without speaking a word for almost the whole time allotted for the speech — three to five minutes. You can imagine the responses from her professor and her fellow students; they sere fidgeting and looking at her and then at each other. Most of them thought she had forgotten what she had planned to say and should go ahead and admit it, sit down, and let the class get on with business.
