20/20 BLINDNESS
The physician was performing a complete eye physical, including the visual acuity test. The doctor placed the patient twenty feet from the chart and began, “Cover your right eye with your hand.” The patient read the 20/20 line perfectly. “Now cover your left eye.” Again, a flawless read. “Now both,” the physician instructed. There was silence. The patient could not even read the large E on the top line. The physician turned and discovered that the patient had done exactly what the doctor had asked; he was standing there with both his eyes covered. When the physician and patient stopped laughing, they finished the exam successfully.
