MOST HOLY ONE
If our hearts are troubled,
let your everlasting mercy
bring us quietness and rest.
If our minds are torn by doubt,
Stay beside us until we see.
If our souls are timid and confused,
give us some small portion
of the awful courage of love.
Thus blessed with the redeeming gifts
of your life in us,
we shall be growing and changing
into your likeness in our lives,
even as our hearts sink, our minds rage, or our souls quake.
May it be. Daniel H. Evans. From Alive Now, March/April 1988
