SINNED AGAINST WHOM?
God is offended by our sin. So are people. The sour, grumpy attitudes hurt one’s relationship with his wife. The nagging, fault-finding wife offends her husband. The lying salesman does an injustice to the customer. The ridiculing, rebelling teenager demoralizes his parents. The critical, bitter deacon undermines his pastor. To tell God we are sorry about thinking, feeling and saying these things and not communicating anything to the human person involved is to try and short-circuit the process of confession. Talk to God and man about it. From The Trauma of Transparency, by J. Grant Howard, published by Multnomah Press, Portland, OR, pg. 130
