TRUST GOD TO DO WELL
LaFontaine gives us the delightful fable of “The Acorn and the Pumpkin.” One day a man was walking through the woods, praying and meditating on the goodness of God. All of a sudden, he looked up and saw a great big oak tree, and, on top of the oak, a tiny little acorn. Then he looked down and saw a tiny little stem and, at the end of the stem, a great big pumpkin. The man looked up and he looked down, and he said, “This is stupid! That tiny little acorn shouldn’t be on that big tree, and that big pumpkin shouldn’t be on that little stem! Too bad I wasn’t around at the creation of the world.” I would have said: “God! That little acorn should go with that tiny stem, and that big pumpkin should be on that big tree.” Then the man decided to take a rest, so he lay down underneath the oak tree…
