PICKLES OR MILK
A farmer and his wife went each week to the local farmer’s market to sell their products. The farmer sold fresh sweet milk while his wife sold delicious home-cured pickles. The farmer and his wife carried their products in large glass jars from which they would dip out the milk or the pickles into smaller jars their customers brought. The farmer and his wife became well-known for their fresh sweet milk and delicious home- cured pickles. When the farmer and his wife arrived at the market one day, they discovered they had only one dipper. Since both needed a dipper, they had no choice but to share the dipper. At first sharing the dipper worked fine. But as morning passed a subtle change took place. Pickle juice mixed with the milk. Milk mixed with the pickle juice. By lunch the pickle juice had soured the milk and the milk had ruined the pickles. Nobody bought either product. The farmer and his…
