FIGHTING GARLIC WITH GARLIC
As a culture, we treat immorality like garlic. When I eat a lot of garlic, my breath is going to stink. So I warn my wife. And she takes defensive measures. What does she do? She eats garlic too! You see, if she has garlic on her breath, she won’t notice the garlic on my breath. Our prevailing attitude toward sin is similar. We don’t notice the sin because “everybody’s doing it.” If everybody has sin on their breath, they won’t notice the sin on mine, so it must be okay. The trouble is: it still stinks.
