FORGAVE & FORGOT
It seemed like the longer they were married, the more they argued. The husband seemed to do a lot of things wrong, and the wife never forgot a thing he had done. They would argue for a while, and then they would make up. She would forgive him for all those things he had done wrong. But the next time they argued, she would bring up all the things they had argued about and she had forgiven him for. During one such heated discussion, she began to remind him of all of his many misdeeds. The husband could take it no longer. “I thought you are supposed to forgive and forget!” the man screamed at his wife. His wife replied, “Well, I did forgive and forget, but I don’t want you to forget what I forgave and forgot.” Adapted from a submission by David Olson
