LIFE’S SPACE SHUTTLE
The switch was thrown at Mission Control
And the craft leaped forth from the launch pad;
The lifeless hulk just moments before
Now heavenward rose, blinding, fireclad.
What a glorious sight as the fiery pillar
Moved upward and out of eyes view,
In the thrill of that moment I knew from His Spirit
Here is a parable new:/For like the white giant destined yonder
To rise as a bird into space;
So is each life in the hands of it’s Maker
Aimed to burst upward in grace.
Here on the launch pad of time and space
Poised for upward ascent,
Is the shuttle, God’s shuttle, your life and mine
On His mission ready to be sent.
But all lay in stillness, classed as the ‘might be’
Until released from above,
Thrust into life and gracious service
By the spark of the Heavenly Dove.
