A TRIUMPHANT FAITH
The triumph of faith can be seen in a story I read about one humble believer who was hauled before a vicious judge during the first century persecutions. Again and again the judge attacked the man’s faith and tried to make a mockery of his testimony but could not. Finally with great sarcasm, the judge sneered, “Do you think the likes of you could stand in the presence of almighty God?” The Christian responded gently, “I do not think. I KNOW that I will stand in the presence of my Redeemer and my God.” Down through the ages, many people have thought that Christianity was a “think so” religion. They claim that other religions make similar claims and teach similar truths. These folks reduce all religion to vague philosophy by saying, “It doesn’t really matter what you believe, just so you believe.” But Christianity is not a “think so” religion.
