LET JESUS WASH YOUR FEET
John White, in The Pathway to Holiness, explains the significance of self-examination. “Life in a sinful world inevitably brings defilement. It is not the defilement of mere contact with sinful people, but of a thousand little thoughts and reactions in response to them, to conversations, to all I have heard and seen on TV or in newspapers. I live in a defiling world, and I have been defiled. I need time with Christ. I need to take my shoes and socks off and let him wash my feet. To wash them properly, he has to see where the dirt is. In other words, I have to let him see me, to see the defilement in my heart. Defilement always involves my sin. He can perceive that sin better than I.
