OVERCOMING OBSTACLES
When you look in the mirror, look beyond the reflection and see the face of Christ. Years ago, a young immigrant girl named Golda Mabovitz attended Fourth Street Grade School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She came to school in ragged clothes and had difficulty learning because of her scant knowledge of the English language. Sometimes she wouldn’t come to school at all. Her schoolmates teased her. They thought of her as a loser. A nobody. A nothing. We’ve all known someone like that, someone who was an outcast. The social workers visited Golda’s home and scolded her parents for allowing her to be truant and for not giving her the food and warm clothes she needed. But the Mabovitzes didn’t understand what was being said to them since they couldn’t speak English. When this young girl looked in the mirror, all she could see was a failure. But God saw something different. He saw her as she would be. He saw her returning…
