Wally Rasmussen, the son of a poverty-stricken chicken farmer, loved to tinker with motors and machinery, but the only job he could find was as a hired hand on a chicken farm. Then came a break — his uncle, an electrician, got him a temporary job working for the plant maintenance engineer at Beatrice Food’s Omaha Dairy. That was all Wally needed — a chance to show how he could fix things. And the more machinery he fixed, the more complex jobs they threw at him.
