AFFIRMING MEANING IN THE MIDST OF MODERN BALDERDASH I
Peter 1 In developing the series of sermons on affirmations I mentioned last month I included a sermon on affirming meaning in the midst of a world that at times seems to be chaotic and meaningless. As Biblical theists we are surrounded by a plethora of arrogant form of existential humanistic scientism. I guess one of the things that really ticks me off is the unfettered balderdash some scientific types spout that goes so eggregiously beyond the limits of their own scientific premises, strictly interpreted. In a recent issue of Discover magazine there was an article by Stephen Jay Gould of Harvard (Geology) entitled “In Praise of Charles Darwin.” The article included a lucid but totally trans-scientific statement of the modern relativistic view that was about as up- front as you’ll find.
