UMP WANTS NEW PARENTS
People can be cruel–especially to umpires. During one such Little League game, the hostile crowd of parents were chanting, “We want a new ump; we want a new ump!” The umpire had taken their abuse for a while. He then called time out, removed his mask and turned to the crowd. He then, with a smile on his face, screamed, “I want new parents; I want new parents!” The parents were fairly well behaved for the rest of the game. Compassion and self-control are teachable virtues.
