SINGLE MINDED TO THE END
As the pastor prepared to preach the funeral of a ninety-four-year-old woman in his parish who had never married, he was given a note from the woman’s belongings. The woman gave specific instructions concerning her funeral service. She made suggestions for Scripture readings and music. Among her instructions was included an unusual order: “There will be no male pallbearers. Since they wouldn’t take me out when I was alive, I don’t want them to take me out when I’m dead.” Adapted from the Chicago Tribune
