Nine months before Batista’s coup which led to incredible corruption and brutality in Cuba, Eduaro Chibas, founder of the Cuban People’s Party, shot himself during one of his weekly political broadcasts. To Cubans listening, he addressed his last words, “People of Cuba awake! This is my last warning!”
