DON’T TELL ME
Many years ago, Jennifer Klingenfus, daughter of Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, my friend and long-time pastor of my parents, ran the following classified ad in the Henry County Local in New Castle, Kentucky. “My dog ‘MOP’ is missing. If you see him, call 555-1111. There is another dog who looks like him but he’s fatter and has twice as short a tail. If you see him dead, don’t tell me.” The truth may set us free. But sometimes freedom is not all that alluring. We often cling to our comfortable “prisons” of ignorance.
