TO HAVE LOVE AND BEEN LOVED
A seminary professor received a note from a former student, upon the untimely death of his son in an automobile accident, that helped him to more clearly see that if we love even a little, there is not way to avoid the trauma of loss. She clarified this by her definition of sorrow. “Sorrow is more than an emotion, it is the innermost being expressing to both God and to the world — through sobs, tears, and aching silence — that it was glorious to have been loved and to have loved.”
