Harold Geneen served for nearly twenty years as the head of AT&T and ITT. He is credited as the father of the modern conglomerate. At one time he employed 300,000 people on four continents and had 250 profit centers. He produced for 58 consecutive quarters of this a gain in each quarter against the corresponding quarter of the year before. That is fourteen and a half years of consecutive gains every quarter.
