When we were holding a Crusade in Brisbane, Australia, we were taken to the place where Douglas MacArthur had his headquarters during World War II. He had come from the Philippines, where, prior to leaving, he had waded waist deep out into the Pacific and dramatically exclaimed to the onlooking Filipinos, “I shall return!” For long months and years, those island dwellers waited under cruel oppression. They were reassured from time to time by underground pamphlets, leaflets from overhead air raids and unjammed radio reports, that eventually they would be emancipated. As the five-star General promised, “I shall return.”, so he did. John Wesley White.
