Here’s one from the Phoenix Baptist Church Newsletter: HUBBLE TROUBLE It seems there’s trouble with the Hubble. You know, that multi- kazillion-dollar telescope currently floating 380 miles above the planet, peering myopically at distant galaxies. Somebody ground the lens wrong, and now the 43-foot-long marvel, which was supposed to see the ends of the universe and rid the world of its Creator, sends back smeared images of stars, as if NASA had hooked its computers into the aged eyes of a local spinster. But one thing is for certain: whatever else is wrong with the Hubble, it’s clean! It seems the project ran a little behind schedule. A launch planned for 1983 finally took place in April of 1990. In the meantime, they had to keep the scope in storage, and it is not the sort of equipment one stashes in his garage. Even the smallest particle of dust could cause major damage to the gizmo.
