EFFECTIVE RISK MANAGEMENT ABC
consumer reporter John Stossel encourages America to lighten up. Our preoccupation with unbalanced risk management issues consumes too much of our time and energy. Stossel claims that he is taking a common sense approach to the media hysteria over minor risks, unthinking government regulation, and the like. Stossel has a chart on his office wall that measures and prioritizes the level of risk of risky activities such as smoking, driving, unsafe sex and less risky activities such as airplanes, lightning and the like. If you are one hundred times more likely to die in a car crash than from pesticides, then you had better be careful when you are driving to the store to get some of these things that are supposed to improve the quality of your life.
