ON A JOURNEY
My wife and I are going to a conference . . . . . . without the children. Taking a trip like this there are just so many things to prepare, some happening months in advance. Flights are scheduled. Hotel booked. Transportation figured out. Destination researched. The suitcases must be packed. Of course, this means catching up on laundry, some new clothes and finding out what the weather is like where we are going. We have to get traveler’s checks. Arrangements are made for getting the grandparents here to care for the children. Notes are written to the schools. Lists are written with names of people to call “just in case . . .” The will is written out . . . The list goes on. So many arrangements for a small trip. But they are important. When we get there–if all the preparations have been effective–we should be able to enjoy the time away. That reminds me of another trip…
