HISTORY OF ISRAEL
When Israel wrote her own history, they did not write it the way other nations wrote histories. Other nations hired historians to write the history to make that nation and the king the greatest in all history. The Roman kings who were called “caesars” were described by their historians or biographers in the language of divinity. But not Israel. Israel’s historians go out of their way to demonstrate that Israel was not great by worldly standards, and her leaders had flaws. From a sermon by Mark Potter
