COMMUNICATING THE NEED FOR CHANGE
Emile Ballard is our American Baptist Missionary with the Telakhon people in Thailand. She wrote about the process of communicating the gospel, the good news of the love of God expressed in our Savior Jesus Christ, in her last letter: These people talk in allegories and during the discussion with their leaders one of them said to us. “We see ourselves as though we are in a deep hole in the ground. We look up and see the light, but we can’t get out. Now we see you come and reach down your hand to help us out, but we can’t reach your hand. But don’t give up on us – perhaps our children will be able to jump high enough to catch hold of your hand.” This being interpreted means that those of the older generation can’t change their ways quickly enough to accept the help we offer but perhaps their children will find a way to adapt.…
