FATIGUE PROTECTION
There are two ways that metallic structures will break. Engineers call them static failure and fatigue failure. Static failure happens when you put more weight on the structure than it can hold, and it collapses. It is easily predicted and more often than not, it is not the cause of a structural failure. Fatigue failure, however, is much more difficult to predict. It occurs when relatively light loads are applied in constant repetition. The repeated applications gradually wear down the metal, making it brittle until it snaps. People can suffer from fatigue failure too. Sometimes we just need a break from everyday life, so that we don’t become brittle and snap.
