GOD’S MUDDY CHILDREN
I remember a day when my two young children, David and Betsy were outside playing. They were awfully quiet. That’s a bad sign! I went out to check on them and found two muddy objects about the same size of my two children. To the muddy objects I said, “Have you seen David and Betsy?” They laughed and said “We are David and Betsy!” “No,” I said, “David and Betsy don’t look like mud children!” “But we are David and Betsy, Daddy!” “Well,” I said, “we’ll have to give you a bath and see!” I carried them into the bathtub, shoes and all. The shower came on and the tub filled up — layer after layer of mud washed off of them. Finally the mud was gone, and my two clean children had returned to me, and I greeted them, “You are David and Betsy! I didn’t recognize you in all that mud!” God has done the same thing for each…
