MOTHER’S SACRIFICE
Seventeen years ago, our church, Parkview Church of God, saw a miracle. A tiny baby boy was born to a fine young couple in our church, Tony and Sharon Pompelia. Within minutes of his birth, doctors realized something was wrong with this child. He was rushed, even before his mother was able to hold him in her arms, over 200 miles from the hospital here in Meridian to the Oschner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans. For the first six weeks of Tyler Pompelia’s young life his parents visited him in the neonatal intensive care unit of that huge medical facility. Neither of Tyler’s kidneys had formed properly. Even after leaving the hospital their function and development was severely limited. Again and again in his growing up years, Tyler had to go to the hospital.
