SNOWBOARD TIPS
If you have been skiing lately, you most certainly have noticed the latest addition to the skiing family. Snowboards (mini-surfboards for snow) have taken over the slopes. They call themselves “shredders.” They now have earned themselves their own “Mr. Shredd” advice column in the Skiers Advocate, a publication of the American Ski Association. Listen to the great advise given to one who wants to learn to jump with his board. . . Dear CSH, There are two basic philosophies on learning to catch air. 1. Start off on small bumps with smooth, clear landings. 2. Find the largest cliff at your local ski area and jump off of it. If wearing a body cast for six months is not in your plans, I recommend the first option. From Skiers Advocate, March 1990 (I wonder how much they pay Mr. Shredd?)
