I WORK TOO HARD!
The following story is presented as told by President William D. Boyd, in Western Witness, Vol. 14, #4 (pub. by Western Bible College, Morrison, Colorado 80465). The story is told of a young man who went to Canada in search of a job as an axeman for a lumber company. He approached the foreman, asking if there was an opening. The foreman replied, “That depends. Let’s see you fell that tree over there.” The young man set his feet and deftly felled the tree. The foreman was impressed. “Start Monday!” Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday rolled by and Thursday afternoon the foreman said, “Pick up your paycheck on your way out today.” “I thought you paid on Friday.” “Normally we do, but we’re letting you go today because you’re too lazy. We keep a chart on the number of trees you cut and you’ve dropped from first place on Monday to eighth on Wednesday.” “I’m not lazy,” the young man responded.…
