The legendary Jenny Lind, who toured the United States more than a century ago, was known as the “Swedish Nightingale.” Music experts of her time marvelled at her rich, warm, colorful voice and her remarkable control, which was considered unique. Whenever she arranged to give a concert she requested that she be provided with a little room backstage, available only to her, in addition to the normal dressing room.
