In a religious midwestern farming community a drought had threatened to ruin the entire season’s crop. In a last ditch effort, the local pastor asked that the entire community assemble at one of the farms to pray for rain. The crowd gathered and the pastor rose atop a tractor to address the farmers. He said, “Brothers and sisters,
I see that you have all come here today to pray for rain.”
“Amen!” responded the crowd.
“Well,” said the preacher, “do you think you have sufficient faith?”
“Amen!” the crowd shouted again.
“O.K. I believe you. But this one thing is troubling me.”
The farmers went silent, waiting for the preacher’s words. “Brothers and Sisters, where are your umbrellas?”
