A little girl named Jenifer decided to write a letter to God. “Dear God,” she began, “are boys better than girls? I know you are one but please try to be fair!” Already, at her tender age, she was expressing anxiety over being born female. Already she was concerned about the prospect of having to swim against the tide because, after all, God Himself is male.
Jenifer is too young to know that by raising the question she became a part of a great Revolution that is affecting all of mankind. After thousands and thousands of years we are just breaking into a new Era of sexual equality. To understand more fully what is going on today, we need to go back into our Bible History, because at least part of the problem of sex discrimination is rooted in our misunderstanding of Scripture.
