Verse 24 of the 118th Psalms is one of the most widely quoted Old Testament verses. It teaches us that when we celebrate the enduring love of God, we are not merely celebrating a remembrance of times past, or something that is anticipated for tomorrow. We are celebrating a present reality — something that is happening now! “This is the day the Lord had made!” The Psalmist wrote. “Let us rejoice and be glad in it now.”
Some people spend their days living in the past. However, it appears that we’re living in a time when most people spend their days anticipating: living in the future.
We lean into the future. We spend most of our time living for tomorrow. We want to build up the pension plan and other security for tomorrow.
