The subject of prayer has always held a position of prominence in religious publishing. Down through the years, persons from all walks of life have been writing books about prayer and books of prayers. Theologians, Scripture scholars, monks, novelists, poets, housewives, social scientists, teachers — to name a few — have contributed to an immense body of works dealing with the Mystery of prayer. But like the awesome Mystery of God Himself, the full depth of the mystery of prayer is beyond our ability to penetrate. The experience of God’s Presence does not unravel the Mystery of God.
