Simon Peter, the big fisherman, is one of my very favorite people! I really get a great deal of encouragement from Peter as I watch him trying so hard to be a disciple, stumbling, falling down, picking himself up again, moving on. Imagine yourself getting up and going to work one morning and before the day is over, without any warning, you change your vocation, you change your work, you change your life completely. You leave your family, you leave everything, to take up a whole new life. That’s what happened to Simon Peter. And from that time on, he was ‘always close to Jesus, where the action was. He was with Jesus when they walked along the highways of Galilee and talked to people. He was with Jesus when He healed the blind and the epileptics and the demoniacs and others. He was with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration. He was with Jesus in the upper room and on to the end of…
