The New Testament proclaims the Lord Jesus as the “Light of the World.” He is the true light,” John tells us in today’s Lesson. When Jesus taught in the Temple, He said to the scribes and Pharisees, “I am the light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (Jn. 8:12). “Once you were in darkness,” Paul wrote to the Ephesians, “but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is good and right and true)” (Rom. 5:8-9).
