One Sunday morning, two little girls, ages four and six, were leaving Church with their parents. The six-year-old was deep in thought about the story of the loaves and fishes she had just heard: Jesus had fed a great big crowd of hungry people with a couple of fish and a little bit of bread. Awesome! The four-year-old was singing a nursery rhyme:
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses
and all the king’s men
couldn’t put Humpty together again.
Whereupon, the six-year-old said triumphantly, “Jesus could!” And, with Jesus’ help, maybe even “all the king’s men” could have put Humpty together again. With Jesus’ help, maybe even we could do it!
