A seminary student rose to preach his first sermon. He began, saying, “The title of my sermon is, ‘Man, God, The Universe and Related Subjects.'” Given time and additional life experience, that student probably learned to lower his sights a bit in his future sermons. And yet, pretentious as it may sound, “Man, God, The Universe and Related Subjects” is really an appropriate title for one’s sermon on the awesome subject of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God. The Holy Spirit has been given to man. The Holy Spirit permeates the Universe and even the related subjects. Nothing under the sun exists apart from the reality of the Presence of the Spirit of God.
